Counseling Services

• TSC Counseling provides services in mental health, substance abuse or any personal concerns , at no cost to currently  enrolled students.
• TSC Counseling is confidential and is not part of your academic record.
• Counseling services are provided by appointment only, with the exception ofemergency situations .

What is an Accommodation?

An accommodation is a legally mandated service that gives a student with disabilities an equal opportunity to benefit from the educational process. Accommodations do not lower academic standards or compromise the integrity of an academic program.

The type of supporting documentation needed depends on the student’s disability and the accommodations being requested.

High School or Texas Workforce Solutions

• Full Individual Evaluation*
• Last Accommodations Received
• DDS Lab Assessment (dyslexia)

* Evaluations will not be accepted if they are older than 3 years.

Classroom Accommodations

• Extended time for tests
• Separate testing
• Sign language interpreters
• Books in alternative format
• Use of assistive technology such as Dragon Dictate

***Contingent upon diagnosis, severity, and prognosis. Student must turn in adequate documentation from a qualified professional. Accommodations are provided on a case-by-case basis. Each accommodation plan is developed with the student to meet his/her/their needs.

Self Disclosure and Confidentiality

• Students must self-identify to Counseling and Student Accessibility Resources. Primary responsibility for self-advocacy and arranging accommodations belongs to the student.
